Teeswater:

The Teeswater breed has only been available in the U.S. from breed-up programs using imported semen. We felt fortunate to be able to find foundation animals in the range of 93%-97% Teeswater, meaning, the work of breeding-up was already done, and the fleeces were very true to type. We were thrilled! However, the pedigrees were based on very tight breeding, so we immediately started looking for fresh bloodlines. We have purchased imported semen from four purebred rams, and already integrated this lovely one, Rivendell Denethor, into our flock.

We love the Teeswater’s pearly locks of fleece, and its soft and smooth handle. We are having so much fun with novelty yarns!

The Teeswater has become so rare in its native England, the animals in the United Sates were deemed critical to the breed’s survival. In 2020, the American Livestock Conservancy listed the breed as critical.
